Our athletes keep their spirits up during a rainy Region B weekend and scored big at the Region B Championships!

10 and under

Team: Our two 10U team won Gold and Silver!

Duet: Samantha and Jaclyn won Gold and Nira and Ellie won Silver!

Solo: Samantha won silver and Ellie took 4th place.

Former Aquamaids score high at USA National Collegiate Championships
Duet Award Ceremony at USA Collegiate National Championships

Last week at USA National Collegiate Championships, several former Aquamaids competed for their collages. We are happy to report that Nikki Dzurko, Ohio State, won first place in Solo, Duet with her Ohio State partner Laila Hurkic, and Team with Ohio State. The Collegiate Team USA Champions Ohio State also included former Aquamaids Camryn Carrasco, Alex Meredith and Stephanie Thielemann. In addition, Nikki won individual High Point Trophy. Stephanie won Gold in Trio with her Ohio teammates Wenjing Deng and Rachel Jager. The Ohio State Bronze team included former Aquamaids Phoebe Coffin and Ava Lichter.

Juniors & 13-15s leave for West Zones

Our Juniors and 13-15s are today leaving for West Zones Championships in Irvine, CA, today (Feb 28, 2019). West Zones Championship is an important step for our swimmers since this is a qualifying meet for USA Junior and 13-15 National Championships. Santa Clara Aquamaids have swimmers in solo, duet and team for both Juniors and the 13-15 age groups. We are excited to see their performances at West Zones! GO BIG RED!

Santa Clara Aquamaids celebrates the 2018 season
10 and Under, 11-12, 13-15

The Santa Clara Aquamaids (SCA) are holding their Annual Banquet on November 4th 2018 to celebrate the 2018 amazing synchronized swimming season and athletes. This is the Aquamaids’ 64th banquet. Some of the most memorable moments for SCA were the Junior/Senior team taking Gold in Technical Team, Silver in Free Team and Combo at US National Senior Championships. Only two of our swimmers were Seniors at the time, this accomplishment shows the strength of Santa Clara Aquamaids. The Junior/Senior team also took Gold in all events (Team, Combo, Duet, and Solo) as well as Silver in Duet and Bronze in Solo at US National Junior and 13-15 Championships.

The competitive program enjoyed two exciting weeks of summer camp. Our athletes had classes in music appreciation, flexibility, Zumba, interpretive dance, dance with a focus on hands and upper body carriage, presentation in the water, ligament routines, stroke correction and more.

International Club Exchange

In July,  the Santa Clara Aquamaids 13-15 competitive program participated in an international exchange program as part of USA Synchro’s International Club Exchange (ICE).  Athletes from Santa Clara Aquamaids (SCA), USA, and Pays d’Aix Natation (PAN), France, formed a lifetime bond during two wonderful summer weeks. During the first week PAN visited Santa Clara and during the second week our athletes made an exciting trip to Provence, France. This international exchange is the third for the US Synchro’s ICE program and the first the for SCA and PAN.

Nikki Dzurko and Camryn Carrasco are teaming up to compete in Primorje Synchro Cup, an
international Synchronized swimming competition held in Rijeka, Croatia, June 21-22, 2018. Nikki is USA National Champion in all events (Combo, Team, Duet and Solo) and Camryn is USA National Champion in Team and Combo and USA National Silver medalist in Duet and Bronze medalist in Solo. Both athletes will do one Technical routine, free routine in solo and duet, and compete in Figures as well as.

Two Gold at FINA World Championships for Bill and Kanako

Bill May and Kanako Spendlove, representing Team USA, win Bronze medals in the Mixed Duet Technical and Free portions of the Synchronized Swimming competition at the FINA World Championships. Bill and Kanako is coached by Santa Clara Aquamaids’ head coach Chris Carver.
